Boron carbide is produced by high-temperature smelting of boric acid and carbon materials in an electric furnace. Its theoretical density is 2.52g/cm3, its melting point is 2450°C, and its microhardness is 4950kgf/mm2.
In addition to GB/T2481, FEPA, JIS and other standards, boron carbide products can also produce ultra-fine powder with a fineness of 2 μm, engineering ceramic powder and nuclear industry powder.
Boron carbide has the characteristics of low density, high strength and good high temperature stability. It is used in wear-resistant materials, ceramic reinforcement phases, especially in lightweight armor, reactor neutron absorbers, etc.
